EMMYLOU SINGS AT NOBEL CEREMONY

The Nobel Prize committee presented its peace award yesterday in Oslo, Norway, to American Jody Williams, who's been leading the international battle against use of land mines. Williams hand-picked a singer to perform yesterday: fellow anti-land mine activist Emmylou Harris. Emmylou often passed out pre-addressed postcards during her Lilith Fair stops, urging President Clinton to ban land mine use.

She performed two songs yesterday from her At The Ryman album, Abraham, Martin, and John, and Calling My Children Home, in front of a string quartet.

Tonight, Emmylou is scheduled to play as part of a two-hour show in Oslo with Harry Connick Jr., Mariah Carey, Boyz II Men, Jewel, Sinead O'Connor and others."
